The Unmaking of June Farrow by Adrienne Young

The story takes place in the small, mountain town of Jasper, North Carolina, and follows June Farrow. June belongs to a cursed lineage of women. For generations, every Farrow woman has eventually succumbed to a mysterious "madness"—hearing phantom sounds, seeing things that aren't there, and ultimately disappearing entirely. June's own mother left when she was just a child, and now, at thirty-four, June is beginning to experience the very same terrifying symptoms. She hears the ring of a non-existent telephone and catches glimpses of a door standing open in a field where it shouldn't be.

Desperate to unearth the truth of her family's curse before she loses her mind completely, June decides to step through that mysterious, supernatural doorway. What she discovers is that her family's madness isn't an illness at all—it is a literal tie to different points in time.
